Sugar Road and Mooloolaba Road Upgrades

The Mooloolaba Road, Syd Lingard Drive to Tantula Road West Intersections Upgrade delivered targeted improvements to key intersections and transport connections across this busy section of the Sunshine Coast.

The project improved access and traffic flow between Syd Lingard Drive, Sugar Road, Tantula Road West and the Sunshine Motorway, while enhancing safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.

Key Features

• Modified eastbound right-turn lanes on the Mooloolaba Road overpass to improve lane utilisation and traffic flow.

• Provided two dedicated left-turn lanes from Sugar Road to Mooloolaba Road.

• Widened the road to provide two westbound through lanes from Sugar Road to west of the Syd Lingard Drive intersection.

• Installed signalised pedestrian crossings at the Mooloolaba Road and Sugar Road intersection.

• Realigned the slip lane at the Sunshine Motorway southbound exit ramp intersection to improve safety.

• Delivered dedicated on-road bicycle lanes and off-road shared paths.

• Upgraded lighting to improve visibility and safety.

The project has contributed to improved traffic efficiency, safer intersection movements and enhanced connectivity for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists travelling through the Mooloolaba area.
